How To Change Batteries
Learn how to safely replace the batteries in your Eflare beacon to ensure reliable performance in any environment. Follow these simple steps for correct installation, sealing, and maintenance of your UB280/290 or UB700 model.
UB280/UB290 (AA batteries, cassette)
- Unscrew the base anticlockwise.
- Insert 4 × AA cells into the cassette. Match the flat “–” end to the spring terminal, and the “+” end to the “+” symbol. The cassette’s arrow must point toward the lens when you slide it back in.
- Check the O-ring is seated. Refit the cap and tighten until the O-ring is engaged. Do not over-tighten.
- Twist the lens to switch on. A status LED inside the lens shows Green (normal), Amber (intermediate, will enter low-battery mode after several hours), or Red (replace batteries soon).
UB700 (D batteries, no cassette)
- Unscrew the base anticlockwise.
- Insert 2 × D cells positive end toward the lens.
- Check the O-ring and tighten the cap until the seal engages
- Twist the lens to switch on and verify the status LED.
